[April 02, 2014]  The MacMurray College baseball team came to Lincoln Christian University and left with two wins on a very windy Monday. MacMurray won the first game handily 20-0 in just five innings, while LCU made a much better showing in the second game, dropping it 6-3 in seven innings.

In the first game, LCU (1-8) started junior Chris Krause (Mount Zion/Mount Zion HS), who worked the first three innings, giving up 10 runs, six of them in the third. Three more pitchers came along — senior Mitchell Burgener (Olney/East Richland HS), freshman Logan Myers (Camp Point/Central HS) and senior Brady Cremeens (Hopedale/Olympia HS) — each for two-thirds of an inning, to try to close out the game. Burgener gave up another eight runs, four off a grand-slam home run.

In the second game, MacMurray jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. LCU was able to answer with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth, but not before MacMurray had added another of their own in the top of the fifth, making it 4-3. MacMurray would add two more in the sixth to finalize their run total at six. LCU junior Matt Krause (Mount Zion/Mount Zion HS) registered the complete game.
