On Sunday, Rick Kidd and Curt Fox took to the skies, flying over Lincoln and capturing some great shots of the work underway on the Salt Creek bridge south of Lincoln. While Kidd flew the plane, Fox was busy snapping pictures.

The Salt Creek bridge provides access to Lincoln from Interstate 55 from the south. It is also the most direct route from the city to Madigan Park, Lincoln Correctional Center and Logan Correctional Center. With the bridge completely gone, those traveling from Lincoln to any of these three locations are currently using the Woodlawn ramp onto I-55.

Business I-55 south of Fifth Street was closed to through traffic in March. Construction of the new bridge is expected to be completed by November.
