[April 17, 2014]  The Lincoln Park District is getting ready for the annual Easter egg hunt this Saturday. Activities will take place out on the driving range. Kids up to age 8 and their parents are invited to share in the excitement. The kids get to scamper after their eggs starting at 10 a.m.

The Easter Bunny is expected to hop on over also.

Roy Logan of the park district says the event draws over 600 kids looking for prizes and sweet treats stuffed in plastic Easter eggs. The event has been ongoing for over 20 years.

Ten thousand eggs donated by Symphony of Lincoln and the Lincoln Kiwanis have been filled with all sorts of great treats by Logan-Mason Rehab clients. They have been filling the brightly colored eggs for several weeks to get ready for the big day.

Saturday morning the eggs will be distributed on the driving range at the park district in lanes that are age-specific. Candy fills many of the eggs, but some special eggs have prize coupons in them that can be redeemed at the golf shack. The toys, which are supplied by Symphony of Lincoln, are age-appropriate.

Once the event is over, the plastic eggs are recycled and used again next year.

The ever-popular event is sponsored by Lincoln Daily News, Symphony of Lincoln, Lincoln Kiwanis, Thorntons Oil and the Lincoln Park District.
