[April 21, 2014]  DECATUR — Adults interested in earning a bachelor's degree are invited to attend the PACE program open house at Millikin University on Thursday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to learn about an accelerated format with evening classes. The open house activities will be in the lower level of Richards Treat University Center, East Room, on the Millikin campus.

PACE offers bachelor's degrees in accounting, early childhood education, elementary education, management, nursing RN to BSN, and organizational leadership — all in the evening format — plus educator licensure for adults who already hold a bachelor's degree and want to move into a teaching career.

All majors offered in the PACE format are offered on the Millikin campus, and the education majors are offered on the Parkland College campus in Champaign. Classes meet one night a week for five, eight or 10 weeks, depending on the course. Because courses begin every five weeks, students can begin their course work at various points in the academic year.

At the open house, prospective students can meet with academic advisers to learn about the PACE format and discuss the degree requirements for the various majors. Prospective students are encouraged to bring their transcripts from any colleges or universities they have previously attended, so the materials can be reviewed by Millikin's registrar that evening. PACE students generally transfer in a minimum of 12 college credit hours with a grade-point average of at least 2.0. A financial aid representative will also be available to address questions.

Millikin began offering the accelerated courses in the evenings in 2003 as a response to a growing need in the community to provide a quality baccalaureate education to busy adults juggling families, careers and community responsibilities.
