[April 25, 2014]  ST. LOUIS — The Lincoln Christian University baseball team traveled to St. Louis Christian College on Tuesday for the first of two doubleheaders that will wind down the 2014 season. The Red Lions will host SLCC on Friday for the return games.

In the first game Tuesday, at 1 p.m., LCU (1-12) started junior Matt Krause (Mount Zion /Mount Zion HS), who pitched a complete game. Giving up four runs in the first two innings, the Red Lions bounced back to tie the game at 4-4 by the top of the fourth. The fifth and sixth innings, however, were all SLCC, as they tacked on another seven runs to end the game 11-4.

LCU junior Scott Reynolds (Sidney/Unity HS) started the second game, and SLCC picked up where they left off in the first game, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and one more in the second. LCU would score two more runs late in the game, but junior relief pitcher Chris Krause (Mount Zion/Mount Zion HS) would give up five more runs to the SLCC Soldiers. Final score for the late game: LCU 2, SLCC 9.
