State police investigate shooting of armed offender by Lincoln police

[April 23, 2014]  Illinois State Police, Zone 4, responded to a shooting of an armed subject by the Lincoln Police Department on Tuesday.

Preliminary investigative details revealed that at approximately 11:24 p.m., officers from the Lincoln Police Department responded to a 911 call in the 700 block of Pulaski Street in Lincoln.

The officers encountered a male subject who was armed with a firearm. The male subject was engaged in a physical altercation with a female subject inside the establishment. During the altercation, police engaged the male subject. The female subject was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, and the male subject was pronounced dead at the scene.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Zone 4. No further information is available at this time.
