Showers and thunderstorms on tap for the week, with the greatest risks of severe weather Monday evening

[April 28, 2014]  The National Weather Service in Lincoln released a hazardous weather outlook for the counties of Cass, Christian, Coles, DeWitt, Douglas, Fulton, Knox, Logan, Macon, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Morgan, Moultrie, Peoria, Piatt, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Shelby, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford in central and east-central Illinois.

A slow-moving storm system approached the area late in the day Sunday. The system will continue to affect the area for much of the week, although an organized thunderstorm threat is expected to linger only into Tuesday. The threat for severe storms Monday afternoon and evening will be higher than on Sunday, with damaging winds, very large hail and tornadoes all possible.
