[August 02, 2014]  Giants 5, Mets 1: Ryan Vogelsong tossed a two-hitter and Brandon Crawford went 3-for-4 with an RBI as San Francisco began its 10-game road trip on a winning note.

Hunter Pence collected three RBIs and Matt Duffy drove in a run for the Giants, who climbed within 2 1/2 games of the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West while maintaining their lead in the wild-card standings. Vogelsong (6-8) walked one and struck out five as he snapped his five-game losing streak with his second career complete game.

Lucas Duda belted his sixth home run in nine contests for the Mets, who are six games out of a wild-card spot. Jon Niese (5-7) suffered his third straight loss since returning from the disabled list, allowing five runs - three earned - and nine hits over eight-plus frames.

San Francisco took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Crawford and Pence's run-scoring groundout. Pence struck again in the seventh, delivering a two-run triple before scoring on Duffy's single to make it a five-run advantage.

Vogelsong kept New York hitless until Juan Lagares led off the sixth with a single. The veteran right-hander faced the minimum over seven innings before Duda opened the eighth by depositing a 1-2 offering over the left-field wall for his career-high 20th blast.
