[August 12, 2014]  LINCOLN - The Oasis is in charge of the Flea Market at the Lincoln Arts & Balloon Festival each year. This year as always, Scully Park will be filled with vendors and shoppers. The Oasis Café will be open and serving it’s excellent food.

The Scully Park event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Oasis and in order to make it a success, volunteers are needed to help out at all times of the day over the three day event.

The festival will be August 22, 23, and 24. If you have time to volunteer for a shift or two, please contact the Oasis at 217-732-6132.

Once again this year the Oasis will be partnering with St. John United Church of Christ for the annual German Fest. The Day of tremendously delicious old style German food will be held on October 18th this year at SJUCC.

All of the food is prepared from scratch and much of the work needs to be done ahead of time.

We will be working on the following days:

Sept. 29 at 1:00 at the Oasis make apple strudel – bring your rolling pin and apples if available to you.

Oct. 3 at 1:00 at the Oasis make apple strudel – bring your rolling pin and apples if available to you.

[to top of second column]

Oct. 13 at 9:00 at the Oasis make red cabbage.

Oct 16 at 9:30 at the Oasis make German potato salad – bring your favorite peeling knife.

Oct. 17 at the church – cut and box the desserts.

Oct. 18 is the BIG day come and eat and help if you can.

We can’t have too many helpers so whatever you are willing and able to do, will be appreciated.

We’d also appreciate knowing if you do plan to help. Please stop in at the reception desk at the Oasis and add your name to the work schedule.
