[August 14, 2014]  LINCOLN - The Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the return of the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival Parade. The festival parade will kick off Friday, August 22 with a lights and siren parade that will include pilots, sponsors, and community members.

The parade lineup will take place down Wyatt Ave. at 2:45 pm, and the parade will start at 3:30 pm on Kickapoo immediately following the Downtown festival ribbon cutting ceremony. The parade will then travel north and turn left onto Clinton Street, turn right onto Chicago, turn right onto Pekin, then turn left onto Kickapoo Street and continue traveling north to Airport road, turning onto Airport road and entering the Festival through the main gates.

Our grand marshal for the 2014 Festival Kick-off parade is Dominic Dalpoas, director of the Oasis Senior Center. The Festival Steering Committee felt that after all the Oasis had gone through during the fire to their downtown building in 2013 and in the many months that followed Dom deserved to be honored and recognized for his hard work and dedication to Lincoln, IL, Oasis members and the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival. Festival organizers encourage everyone to come out and celebrate Dominic Dalpoas during the parade.

Participants of the parade are encouraged to pass out candy and giveaways to parade viewers along the way. All walkers will have to exit the parade route at the Ace Hardware parking lot.

The Chamber looks at this as a great opportunity to showcase sponsors, pilots, and the community as we begin a weekend of fun and entertainment. The Chamber encourages the community to get involved and celebrate. To join our lineup, call 217-735-2385 or email events@lincolnillinois.com.
