[August 22, 2014]  LINCOLN - As the Lincoln community gears up for the 41st annual Art Fair, the Lincoln Woman's Club is preparing to host its long-running Art Fair Luncheon on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Beginning 41 years ago when their sister club, the recently disbanded Lincoln Junior Woman’s Club originated the first Art Fair, the Lincoln Woman's Club has continued the fundraising luncheon every August. It is located in the club's historic building, a former Jewish synagogue at 230 N. McLean St., just across the street from the Art Fair.

This year the club will again serve pork barbecue, Avanti’s Subs, coleslaw, baked beans, chips and homemade pie. A new addition to the 2014 menu is ice cream. Items may be purchased individually, or patrons may purchase a meal package. An added attraction is the club building’s spacious luncheon room, cool air-conditioning, and public restrooms.

The club’s annual monetary raffle will continue through the weekend with the prize winner being announced at 2:00 pm on Sunday. In addition, homes for the club’s December Tour of Homes, “Home for the Holidays,”will be announced and patrons will be given the opportunity to purchase advance tickets at the pre-tour discount price of $8.

The group meets the third Wednesday of the month September through May. Funds from the Art Fair luncheon will be used to defray building expenses and to support its local volunteer mission.
