Celtic Festival in Springfield this weekend

[August 28, 2014]  SPRINGFIELD - The St. Andrews Society of Central Illinois is hosting a Celtic Festival in downtown Springfield, Illinois August 31st, 2014 on 7th street between Washington St. and Adams. The gates will open at 2pm and General Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under are free.

There is fun for all with music, dancing, whiskey & wine tastings, and an area for kids! Embrace the Scottish & Irish spirit with musical entertainment provided by: Exorna, St. Andrew's Pipes & Drums, Dave Littrell & Tommy O, Forrest Harris, Victor McMullan & Tommy O, Emerald Underground, Celtic Cross Pipe Band, Skibbereen. Watch the St. Andrew's Celtic Dancers and the Central Illinois Irish Dancers tell the story of Scotland and Ireland through dance. For kids there is a bouncy house, Celtic gifts and crafts available.

Through the activities and efforts and our devoted membership, the St. Andrew’s Society helps to inform the public about the traditional aspects of Celtic culture through the demonstration of traditional dance, music, and competitive athletic events. They are a not for profit organization which is partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council and Springfield Arts Council.
