[August 30, 2014]  LINCOLN - Becky Semple of Hartsburg has been recognized as the August Employee of the Month at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Semple works as a polysomnographer in the Cardio-Pulmonary Department.

Semple was born and raised in Lincoln and is a graduate of St. John’s School of Respiratory Therapy. For over 35 years, Becky has lived on a rural farm in Hartsburg.

Semple began working at ALMH in 1977 and continued until 2006 when she began conducting sleep studies at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois. She quickly returned to ALMH and Logan County when a full time position opened up at ALMH to conduct sleep studies at the Lincoln hospital.

Untreated sleep disorders can increase risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and other medical conditions. Sleep studies conducted at ALMH record valuable data needed to diagnose sleep disorders. They are conducted in a comfortable, private room with a double bed and performed by specially-trained staff, like Semple, to help identify the different sleep stages and categorize sleep problems.

Semple is proud to work at ALMH because it is full of knowledge and experience. And because patients come first.

“Our staff members are wonderful to work with. No matter what the job is, everyone is concerned about the comfort and safety of our patients, and go out of the way to be helpful. Our hospital continues to thrive and is able to offer many services so people don’t have to travel,” said Semple.

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of Memorial Health System, is a 25-bed critical access hospital located at 200 Stahlhut Drive in Lincoln. For more information about ALMH, visit www.ALMH.org
