Logan County herb Guild celebrates 20 years

[December 02, 2014]  LINCOLN - The Logan County Herb Guild recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary at their monthly meeting at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Pictured above are Judy Lumpp and Mary Ellen Martin, both of Lincoln and founder, Karen Lowery of rural Beason. The ladies served as the hostesses, provided food, flowers and gifts at a special meeting in celebration of the anniversary.

The Herb Guild was founded to bring people together to share their love of herb gardening and the studying of herb lore, recipes, remedies, etc.

At the anniversary meeting Karen Lowery, who was honored, introduced other charter members, Mary Buckles of Mt. Pulaski, Donna Miller of New Holland and Carol Mills of Lincoln.

Therese Urish of Athens gave the "Herb of the Month" and Mary Buckles, introduced as Marigold, gave the program.

Amy Wertheim and Joyce Leesman, both of rural Atlanta, announced a Facebook page has been set up for the guild.

Presiding at the meeting were the officers for this year: President Nina Gleason of rural Elkhart, Vice-President Pat Benson of Lincoln, Secretary Grace Wibben of rural Atlanta and Treasurer Carol Mills.

The annual Christmas meeting, hosted by the officers will be next this evening (Tuesday, Dec. 2nd) at 6:30 pm at the Faith Lutheran Church.

The next regularly scheduled meetings are held the last Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be January 27, 2015.
