[December 02, 2014]  LINCOLN - Leslie Vernon Jones, 68, of Lincoln, passed away December 1, 2014 at his home.

Visitation: from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.

Service: Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home

Obituary

Leslie Vernon Jones, 68, of Lincoln, passed away December 1, 2014 at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.

Vernon was born April 28, 1946 in Atlanta, the son of Leslie Wilson “Casey” Jones and Lois Daisy (Vannoy) Jones. He married Doris Swingle on November 6, 1966 in Lincoln.

He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as Foreman after 35 years of service. In his younger years he enjoyed racing cars. He enjoyed going to the riverboat and playing the slot machines.

 

Funeral Directors

Surviving are his wife Doris Jones of Lincoln; his children: Angie (Tim) Gallagher, Jeff (Linda) Jones, Missy Simpson, Jason Jones, Joshua (Amanda) Jones, and Jessica Jones all of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister Donna Fulk of Lincoln, and brother Harold (Leona) Jones of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark Jones, his grandson Wyatt Jones, and 7 siblings.

Memorial donations may be made to Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
