Win over Tri-City earns Lady Wolverines 3rd consecutive State appearance

[December 04, 2014]  LINCOLN - The West Lincoln Broadwell Lady Wolverines 7th grade basketball team secured their 3rd consecutive state tournament appearance last night by defeating Tri-City in sectional play 40-34.

The Lady Wolverines opened up the first quarter with a 12-7 lead and by halftime had increased the lead to 23-13. The second half the Lady Wolverines played a bit sluggish and allowed Tri-City back in the game. The Lady Wolverines were able to hold on to the lead and clinch a 3rd straight Sectional Championship for the WLB Lady Wolverine program.

Leah Schneider led all scorers with 24 points as Madelyn Koehler put in 15. Schneider also led in the team in rebounding with 12 boards as Emily Paulus pulled down 7.

With the win the Lady Wolverines are now part of the Elite Eight in the State. The Lady Wolverines will play their first State game on Saturday at 1:00 against the defending State Champions Danville Schlarman.
