[December 09, 2014]  MOUNT PULASKI -  Mount Pulaski knew this would be a tough contest against a Porta team that placed fourth in the state last year and had much of their lineup returning this season. Porta also won the recent Topper Turkey Tournament and defeated all of their opponents by 30 plus points.

So the fact that Mount Pulaski walked away defeated by 26 points was actually not a bad showing. The Toppers did manage to get on the board first with a three by Brayden Curry but that would be the only lead the Blue Jays would allow. A few fast breaks later and Porta had doubled up the Toppers 10-5. Michael Lowery was able to drive the lane for two points just before the first quarter was over but Porta was still on top 20-9.

Dalton Litterly came in off the bench to hit a three near the beginning of the second quarter but the Toppers still trailed 24-12. A couple baskets later by Curry and Lowery followed by a three from Brett Huff and the score was, well still doubled at 38-19. Lowery managed to connect for a three just before the half ended but still the Toppers headed to the locker room down 38-24.

A few quick turnovers by the Toppers to open third quarter play saw the gap widen to 44-24. Lowery was able to drive the lane for two and connect for another three to keep the Toppers within a 20 point deficit, 49-29. The Toppers continued hitting the basket from beyond the arc as Beau Collier, Lowery and Brett Huff all continued to score three-pointers but no matter how hard the Toppers tried, those Blue Jays kept on connecting as well. At the end of three, Porta still dominated over Mount Pulaski 57-40.

Beau Collier and Brett Huff made nice moves in the lane to score through the Porta defenders in the fourth but the Blue Jays managed to pull away just a little bit farther at 69-46. Matt Amidon's nice jumper from the free throw line followed by a nice bank shot by Aaron Durchholz finished the scoring for the evening for Mount Pulaski as Porta was on top 76-50 at the buzzer.

Mount Pulaski was led by Michael Lowery with17 points. Max Muller led Porta with 25 points.
