[December 11, 2014]  LINCOLN - Carol Skorzak of Lincoln has been named the 2014 Employee of the Year at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. The honor was presented at the annual ALMH Holiday and Awards Celebration held this year on December 5 at the Knights of Columbus in Lincoln. Skorzak has worked as a Registered Nurse at ALMH for over 29 years.

Skorzak began her career in healthcare as a nurse’s aide at age 15. By the time she graduated from high school she had already earned an LPN (licensed practical nurse) certification. Her many years of nursing experience includes work at a VA (Veterans Affairs) hospital in California and at the San Diego Naval Medical Center.

Skorzak describes her day-to-day work in the Acute Care unit at ALMH as busy, rewarding, and challenging.

“My co-workers make the unit a special place to work. They care about our patients and assist in giving them the individual care they need. And by co-workers I mean not just the staff on our floor but all of the departments that provide patient care,” said Skorzak.

Skorzak was chosen by her peers for the award from the 2014 Employees of the Month. The other employees of the month, also honored at the event, included: Nikki Hamilton, Arlene DeWilde, Erica Buetel, Deb Owens, Kara Estep, Rachel Sanders, Janna Shaw, Kalli Rigg, Becky Semple, and Dawn Draper.
