[December 11, 2014]  LINCOLN - The Lincoln Christian University (LCU) Red Lions Men's Basketball team controlled the game against in-state rival Moody Bible Institute on Thursday night. There was only a brief time when Moody surged to put the game at risk, but Lincoln Christian held on for a big win, 67-60. It is their second win of the season.

LCU put the first points on the board and held their destiny in their own hands as Moody challenged but was never able to exert the influence it wanted over the Red Lions. LCU struggled to make shots in the first half, but stalwart defense kept them in the game. Moody had fewer opportunities than they wanted and capitalized on only a quarter of their attempts. LCU took a comfortable 26-17 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Moody was able to get a couple points back on the Red Lions,

But shooting guard Michael Fisher (FR/Lyons, IN) lit up the scoreboard with four straight threes to pull away and force the Archers to regroup. After 5 minutes into the second half, LCU stretched their lead to 16 points on Fisher's accuracy from outside the arc. Moody pulled in close again, but was never able to secure the tempo as Lincoln Christian's defense forced over a dozen turnovers in the waning minutes of the game.

Fisher led all scorers with a whopping 28 points, followed by Jimmy Smylie (SO/Springfield, IL) with 16. Josiah Gordon (SO/Springfield, IL) pulled in 11 rebounds, with Kamrein Street (FR/Francesville, IN) helping with 7 boards of his own. Anthony Rush (JR/Peoria, IL) had 4 steals and 3 assists to lead both categories.
