Important Farm Bill Dates and Timelines

The 2014 Farm Bill Program has three steps to complete signup which includes Base and Yield Update, Program Election, and Annual Enrollment.

Update Period (Now - February 27, 2015)
During the update period, the Current Owner can choose to:

  • Reallocate base acres, and/or
  • Update counter-cyclical (CC) yields.

If you plan to update yields and bases this step should be completed ASAP. Contact our office or stop by to get a copy of Form FSA-859, Price Loss Coverage (PLC) Yield Worksheet.

If the update process is not completed by February 27, 2015 the yields and bases will default to established base acreage.

Election Period (November 17, 2014 - March 31, 2015)

Current Producers with an interest in the cropland will elect, for the farm and/or crops, the program for the life of the farm bill. These options include:

  • Price Loss Coverage (PLC)
  • ARC with the county coverage option (ARC-CO), or
  • ARC with the individual coverage option (ARC-IC).

[to top of second column]

Failure to make an election by the deadline will result in a PLC election for 2015 through 2018, and NO payments for the 2014 crop year!

Annual Enrollment (anticipated to begin in mid-April 2015 and end approximately mid-summer, 2015)

  • Enrollment for Crop Years 2014 & 2015 will occur simultaneously
  • Enrollment for Crop Years 2016 -2018 will be announced at a later date.

You do not need to wait for a scheduled meeting for information. If you have any questions about the different program options please feel free to call or stop by the office now.
