[December 17, 2014]  Dec 16 (The Sports Xchange) - The Sacramento Kings want Chris Mullin to take over for fired Mike Malone as their head coach, but the Basketball Hall of Famer is not inclined to leave his role as an adviser this season, according to reports Tuesday.

Mullin is not interested with the season already under way because he would like to assemble his own coaching staff and start fresh during training camp. Reports indicated that there's a far better chance that Mullin would take the job next season.

The Kings called up rookie forward Eric Moreland was called up from Reno of the NBA Development League on Tuesday.

Moreland is averaging 13.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in seven games for the Bighorns this season.

The New Orleans Pelicans expected forward Anthony Davis to return for Tuesday night's game against the Utah Jazz after recovering from a chest injury.

Davis suffered the injury during the first quarter of last Friday's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and he missed Sunday's loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Minnesota Timberwolves backup center Ronny Turiaf will not play again this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right hip on Tuesday in New York.

In his second season with the Timberwolves, Turiaf played in only two games this year and had one rebound and two assists in 18 minutes. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
