[December 18, 2014]  ATHENS- The LCHS JV Scholastic Bowl Team traveled to Athens this past Saturday to compete in the first annual Athens Freshmen/ Sophomore Invitational against 11 other teams from the area.

They went 4-1 in pool play, only loosing to Pleasant Plains by a slim 10 point margin. However, with a three way tie for first in the pool, Lincoln came out on top for point totals from the first five matches of the day with 470 points. Pleasant Plains and Riverton were both close behind with 435 and 425 points each.

Lincoln and Pleasant Plains then both went on to the championship bracket, where they beat out Athens and Warrensburg-Latham respectively, causing them to face off again in the first place match.

After an exciting round of 20 toss up questions, Lincoln pulled ahead to win the championship by 20 points.

Captain Reagen Tibbs made the all-tournament team with the fourth highest personal point total at 225.

Kylee Foster was another stand out for the day, making the all-tournament team with the second highest personal point total at 270.

Coaches Josh Bartels and Mary Becker were both incredibly proud of how hard their team worked to earn what is most likely the first tournament championship for a JV team in program history.
