[December 17, 2014]  DELAVAN - Lowell Dean “Doc” Klopp, 90, of Delavan, passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, December 06, 2014, at Timber Creek Nursing Home in Pekin, IL.

 

Visitation:  From 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden.

Service: Graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 15th at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield

Obituary

Delavan- Lowell Dean “Doc” Klopp, 90, of Delavan, passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, December 06, 2014, at Timber Creek Nursing Home in Pekin.

Doc was born on March 26, 1924 in Emden, son of John and Alberta Naffziger Klopp. He was united in marriage to Darlene Lessen on September 29, 1946 in Emden. She survives him. Other survivors include his son: Matthew (Carol) Klopp of Delavan; grandchildren: Mindy, Ryan, Noah, and Nathan; great grandchildren: Peyton, Hayden, and Kelsey; and his sister: Sondra Heidbreder of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doc proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific. He later returned to the area and farmed and raised cattle for over 50 years. Doc was a member of the Emden American Legion Post # 506 for over 60 years, and a lifetime member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Emden. 

Cremation rites were accorded.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with Rev. John Schurter conducting the services.  Full military rites will be accorded.  Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden, IL.  Memorials may be mailed to the Klopp family at 402 East 5th Street, Delavan, IL  61734. 

Services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
