Wolverines sweep the Tars on 8th grade night

[December 17, 2014]  LINCOLN - The West Lincoln-Broadwell Wolverines boys basketball team hosted the Morton Blessed Sacrament Tars at home on Wednesday evening.

The Tars went home empty handed as the Wolverines swept the night with two wins

In the opener, the 7th grade team (13-1) jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and held on for a 53-14 victory.

Kaden Froebe lead all scorers with 27 points. Payton Anderson (11), Kameron Whiteman (6), Dreyden Pozsgai (3), Justin Long (2), Lucas Konczyk (2), and Andre McAdams (2) rounded out the scoring.

The 8th Grade game featured a rematch from last year's 7A Hartsburg-Emden Sectional.

This time WLB (7-7) sent the Tars home with the loss.

Froebe (21) and eight assists led the balanced attack that saw four reach double figures. Shane Shumard (21), Blaine Robbins (14), Kameron Whiteman (11), Dreyden Pozsgai (5), and Kade Schmidt (4) rounded out the scoring.

Wednesday evening was also 8th grade night at West Lincoln Broadwell.  A special recognition of 8th grade athletes was held between the two games.

The Wolverines will enjoy their Christmas vacation with no games scheduled until after the first of the year.

On January 6th, the teams will travel to Springfield to go up against Springfield Christian.
