Recap: SMU 67, Illinois-Chicago 46

[December 18, 2014]  SMU 67, Illinois-Chicago 46: Keith Frazier scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds as the host Mustangs prevailed with ease.

Frazier, who scored a career-high 20 points in SMU's last game, was 5-of-6 from the field in this one while also chipping in three assists and two steals. Nic Moore added 16 points and Yanick Moreira had 11 and eight rebounds for the Mustangs (7-3), who have won five straight games.

Marc Brown scored 15 points to pace UIC (3-9). The Flames shot 26.6 percent from the field and made only seven of their 25 3-pointers in addition to committing 13 turnovers.

SMU limited UIC to 6-of-32 shooting in the first half and did not send the Flames to the foul line once en route to a 29-15 lead at the break. SMU ended the half on a 10-3 run, starting with Moreira's three-point play and ending with Frazier's three foul shots.

The Mustangs went nearly five minutes without a field goal early in the second half, allowing the Flames to get as close as 34-30. However, Frazier and Ryan Manuel combined to score 14 straight SMU points as the lead ballooned back to 50-36 before UIC went more than six minutes without a point to seal its fate.

GAME NOTEBOOK: UIC leading scorer Jay Harris scored six points on 2-of-8 shooting. ... SMU F Ben Moore contributed four blocks - one more than UIC had as a team. ... Mustangs F Justin Martin notched nine points, six rebounds and three steals off the bench.
