“Alderman Anderson’s resignation will create a huge hole within
the City,” said Mayor Snyder. “She was deeply respected by all the
members of the Council as well as every staff member and employee of
the City. She worked hard at the job of alderman, solicited input
from her constituents and citizens across the City, and had a great
deal of experience on all the City financial matters. Mel was a
great alderman for the City of Lincoln and will be greatly missed,”
added Snyder. “She leaves with my upmost respect and appreciation
			for her service.”

In her letter Anderson stated that she was “extremely proud of some
of the tough and sometimes unpopular decisions we have made and the
course [upon which] we have set Lincoln.” She added, “I look forward
to following the continued growth and movement forward of the City
			of Lincoln.”
By ordinance, Mayor Snyder has thirty (30) days to fill the vacancy
created by Ald. Anderson’s resignation. He stated he will announce
his process and timeline for filling the vacancy after the holidays.

				 Anderson's letter to Snyder
			Dear Mayor Snyder,
			Please consider this letter as
official notice of my resignation from Lincoln City Council,
effective immediately.  I have enjoyed getting a better grasp
on how our City operates and working with all the members of the
Council and Department heads.  I am extremely proud of some of
the tough and sometimes unpopular decisions we have made and the
course we have set Lincoln on.  I look forward to following the
continued growth and movement forward of the City of Lincoln.
			Melody Anderson
[From the office of Mayor Keith
			Snyder]
