[February 03, 2014]  The Lincoln Christian University volleyball program has announced the signing of Newark senior Kristina Nichols. She is the first to sign with LCU in their 2014 recruiting class. Her parents are Beth Neitzer and Jeff Nichols.

Nichols is coming off a very impressive prep career at Newark High School. She is currently fourth on their all-time list for career kills at 570 and fifth in total digs with 589. As a senior, Nichols was able to lead her team to an impressive 27-7 regular-season record, a Class 1A regional championship, as well as a Little Ten Conference title. During her senior year, Nichols posted impressive statistics, including 226 kills, 54 serving aces and 255 digs, leading to a spot on the all-area team named by The Times, of Ottawa.

LCU head coach Dave Donnelly had this to say about the signing: "I am very excited that Kristina has joined the Red Lions. She is a excellent hitter and passer. Kristina will be a great addition to the team. I am anxious to get in the gym and start working with her and the rest of the team."
