[February 10, 2014]  The Logan County Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a tree sale this spring. They will offer the following evergreens and hardwoods for conservation plantings: white pine, Norway spruce, Colorado blue spruce, Douglas fir, red maple, red oak, white oak, black walnut, eastern redbud, silky dogwood, red osier dogwood and high-bush cranberry. All trees are bare-root seedlings.

The SWCD will accept orders until March 7. Trees are scheduled to be delivered to the office in early April. Buyers will be notified of the exact date for pickup.

The SWCD is also having a spring fish sale. Several sizes of channel catfish, hybrid sunfish, bluegill and largemouth bass will be available as well as crappie, grass carp and fathead minnows. Fish will be delivered to the SWCD office parking lot on April 15 at 10:30 a.m. The last day to order grass carp is April 1. All other orders are due April 11.

Visit the district's website at or contact the office at 217-735-5508, ext. 3, to obtain an order form for either sale.
