[January 05, 2014]  KANSAS, Okla. — The Lincoln Christian University men's basketball team (4-8) took on the Johnson University Royals in the final game of the Cookson Hills Classic in Kansas, Okla., on Saturday. The Red Lions kept the score close for the first half but couldn't maintain their offensive game in the second half. The Royals won 77-61.

As in their previous game against Manhattan Christian College, the Red Lions were competitive in the first half, taking the lead a number of times. LCU went into the locker room at the midpoint trailing by a single bucket and a score of 39-37.

LCU senior guard Blake Saathoff (Bruce, S.D./Estelline High) led the Red Lions in scoring for the third straight game with 17 points, and senior guard Brian Dyal (Rockford/Berean Christian High) contributed 13 points. Rebounds were an issue, as the Johnson Royals more than doubled LCU on the boards with a 50-22 difference.

The Red Lions will see action again against Emmaus Bible College on Saturday, Jan. 11, in Dubuque, Iowa.
