Wilma Carothers

[January 08, 2014]  ATLANTA — Wilma J. Carothers, 91, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Atlanta – Wilma J. Carothers, 91, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 08, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Hospital in Bloomington.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carothers will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.

Wilma J. Shawgo was born on February 13, 1922, the daughter of Claude and Lois Mae Williams Shawgo. She first married Russell Green and was later married to William "Bill" Carothers.

Surviving Wilma are her children: Mary (Wade) Howe of Lincoln; Sandy Kitchen of Atlanta; Patricia James of Kansas City; Wanda Westfall of Atlanta; Mary Jane (Roger) Cook of Bloomington; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Fosdick of Atlanta, and her caregiver, Sherri (Rick) Kaileft of Lincoln.

Funeral Director

Wilma was preceded in death by two husbands, one daughter, Linda Leesman, and seven brothers and sisters.

Wilma was employed at Lehn & Fink and the Dixie Truck Stop. She was of the Christian faith and dedicated her life to the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
