Madison Genseal is the December Student of the Month at Illini Central

[January 20, 2014]  MASON CITY — The 1st State Bank of Mason City and Illini Central High School presented Madison Genseal with the December Student of the Month award. For demonstrating outstanding character, she received a Barnes & Noble gift card from 1st State Bank and an iTunes gift card from the Illini Central High School faculty.

Madison is the daughter of Jay and Heidi Genseal. Her classes this year were Calculus, Dual Credit Biology, Dual Credit English Composition 101, Leadership, Career Skills and Independent Agriculture.

In addition, Madi kept busy with a number of extracurricular activities. She was a member of Family, Career and Community Leaders, Spanish Club, and National Honor Society. She was also treasurer of FFA and captain of the volleyball team. In volleyball, she was awarded first-team Tomahawk all-conference and second-team Sangamo all-conference.

Outside of school, Madison has assisted several years with the Mason City-to-Peoria St. Jude Run. She has helped with community recycling, and she has headed up the Memorial Christmas Tree project for FFA. She is a member of Mason City Christian Church.

Madison graduated at the end of the first semester and plans to pursue a degree at Illinois State University, followed by a certified physician's assistant program.
