CEL defeats Mount Pulaski in county tournament

[January 22, 2014]  The Chester-East Lincoln eighth-grade basketball team defeated Mount Pulaski 49-26 in the second semifinal game of the Logan County tournament.

Sam Birnbaum scored 11 points and had three boards; Josh Vinson had 10 points and six rebounds; Will Ewald scored nine; Isaiah Bowers added eight points and four steals; Jordan Jacobs had four points and two steals; and Nick Toft, Nate Arnold and Thomas Morris each added two points for the Panthers.

CEL will play Carroll Catholic on Thursday night at 7 for the championship. That game will follow the third-place game between West Lincoln-Broadwell and Mount Pulaski. All games will be played at Lincoln College.
