Community gardening and urban farming workshop coming to Springfield

[January 25, 2014]  SPRINGFIELD — University of Illinois Extension, along with other partners, will host a community gardening and urban farming workshop on Feb. 8, from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Illinois Department of Agriculture in Springfield.

The event is also sponsored by Department of Agriculture, genHkids, Illinois Stewardship Alliance, Neighborhood Gardens and the Springfield Community Garden Family Fit Center.

The workshop will serve as an opportunity for those who already manage or garden at community gardens or urban farms, or those who are interested in learning more, to meet and share best practices. Participants will hear from speakers from Springfield and East St. Louis.

The plenary speaker is Vera Garrett, from Springfield Community Garden.
