[July 08, 2014]  MASON CITY - Join the Arlee Theater in Mason City for its kick-off fundraiser for the S.O.S. Campaign to Save Our Seats - some will be replaced with new, wider seats that have cup-holders, while the rest will be seeing a proper restoration and re-spacing to allow for more legroom.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 the battle of all battles is going to take place: it's a sit-off!

An extreme take on the classic game musical chairs, this fundraiser will see who the “ultimate sitter” is. The event is open to ages 10 and up, but there will be activities for those too young to participate, including their own game of musical chairs.

It costs $5 to enter the contest. Spectators (and hecklers) must also cough up $5 but they will receive a free bag of popcorn. They may choose whether to eat it or throw it at competitors.

The concession stand will be open, limited baked goods will also be for sale, and there will be raffles as well. Doors open at 1:30, so participants can have ample time to warm up, stretch, or practice sitting prior to the event.
