[July 11, 2014]  July 10 (The Sports Xchange) - Free agent center Steve Ott signed a two-year, $5.2 million deal to stay with the St. Louis Blues, who acquired him in the blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Sabres last season that included goaltender Ryan Miller.

Ott posted just three assists in the 23 games after the trade to St. Louis with two assists in six playoff games. Ott won 53 percent of his 423 draws last season and is likely to be used on the third or fourth line.

The Detroit Red Wings re-signed veteran right winger Daniel Cleary to a one-year contract on Thursday.

The deal is worth $1.5 million with a $1 million bonus for games played, according to TSN.

Cleary, 35, played in 52 games last season for the Red Wings and had eight points. The former first-round draft pick has 385 points in 921 career games in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Arizona Coyotes and Red Wings.

The Ottawa Senators re-signed forward Derek Grant to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Thursday.

Grant, 24, played in a career-high 20 NHL games in 2013-14, recording two assists.

The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed forward Jayson Megna and defenseman Philip Samuelsson to one-year, two-way contracts, the team announced Thursday.

Megna's deal has an average annual value of $874,125 at the NHL level. Samuelsson's deal has an average annual value of $550,000 at the NHL level.

The Anaheim Ducks signed defensemen Mat Clark and Jesse Blacker to one-year contracts, the team announced Thursday.

Clark, 23, has played two career NHL games with Anaheim, going scoreless in 2011-12. Blacker, 23, has 11 goals and 42 assists with 129 penalty minutes in 180 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Toronto Marlies.

The Florida Panthers and defenseman Erik Gudbranson agreed to terms on a two-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

Gudbranson, a restricted free agent, had three goals and nine points in 65 games while averaging 17:58 of ice time per game. He led the Panthers with 158 hits and was fifth with 91 blocked shots.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed free agent forward Jerome Samson and re-signed forward Brett Connolly to one-year, two-way contracts, the team announced Thursday.

Connolly, 22, had one goal and four penalty minutes in 11 games last season for the Lightning. He also played for Syracuse in the AHL and had 21 goals and a team-leading 36 assists for 57 points in 66 games. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
