 LCA members have held several workshops this spring at which a
live model from Bloomington posed while artists honed their skills
at capturing the curves and angles of the body. The art show is an
exhibit of the work derived from the workshops.
LCA also invited a respected artist from the McLean County Art
Association to come to Lincoln to critique their work after the
workshops.
While paint on canvas, and pen and ink pieces were in abundance on
the walls of the Art Institute, there were also renderings done in
wood, photography, and performance art featuring local artist Jason
Hoffman.
 Hoffman and a friend filmed a wrestling match between themselves,
and mounted a screen in a large collage of wrestling photos that
recounts the event. Hoffman was a college wrestler and is currently
assisting with the wrestling program at Lincoln College.
Gallery owner Moses Pinkerton chose to display his contribution to
the exhibit as a wood sculpture of a torso. The rich colors and
smooth surface of the wood are enhanced by the subtle lighting in
the gallery.
One unique aspect of the exhibit is the contributions of three
members of a Lincoln family. Jim Grimaldi and his wife Jennifer
Hemberger-Grimaldi had items in the show. Jim’s mother Pam Moriearty
also had a photo and paint collage on exhibit.

Jim displayed items of his signature black and white
photography; while Jennifer constructed a three dimensional
number. Jennifer is the newly appointed chair of the Lincoln
High School art department.
Jason Hoffman is also a member of the Lincoln High faculty. He
noted that his students will have their work on display in a
booth at the Lincoln Art Fair at the end of August.
One further note on this exhibit is in order. The members of
Logan County Arts have staged one of their best exhibits to
date. The work is first rate; the interpretations of the body
varied; and the media so varied that a step from one display to
the next will produce a new sensation in the viewer. The space
that Moses Pinkerton has provided at the Lincoln Art Institute
is terrific, a work of art in its own right.
