Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Schrader Funeral Home in Ballwin MO

Service: Friday July 18, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at The Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, St. Louis MO.

Obituary

Davis, Laura Sydney (nee Edwards), born December 6, 1964, passed away, Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Forty-nine years ago on December 6 she was born Laura Sydney Edwards, the second child to Richard and Phyllis Edwards. The family home is in Mount Pulaski, IL. Family and friends affectionately referred to the athletic and energetic youngster as Syd. She attended Mount Pulaski public school system, graduating from high school in 1983. In the fall of that year she enrolled at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and was awarded an athletic scholarship in track. An SIU degree in communications was conferred in the fall of 1987. Sydney excelled in the field of radio advertising sales and later designed custom closet systems on a part time basis. She married Jeffrey L. Davis in December 1996. The couple has two children, Sinclaire, 16 and Lane, 12. Sydney was an active member of The Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her parents, Richard and Phyllis Edwards, a brother Jeff, his wife, Amy and children Olivia, Cole and Jackson of Ballwin; an aunt, Ruth Barry of Mt. Pulaski, IL; an aunt Mary Harrison of Decatur, IL; an aunt and uncle, Barb and Charlie Austin of Metropolis, IL; and numerous cousins; a mother and father-in-law, Bob and Nancy Davis of Springfield, MO; a sister-in-law Jennifer Davis and husband Kevin O’Donnell of Glendale, MO.

Services: Funeral service at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 12928 Ladue Road, St. Louis, Friday, 10:00 a.m. Interment Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, Washington University, Division of Oncology, Box 8007, Attention: Robert Barczewski, 660 South Euclid, St. Louis, MO 63110.
