[July 19, 2014]  LINCOLN - Logan County residents interested in being healthier might want to consider adopting a cat or kitten from the Logan County Animal Control at a reduced adoption fee. Thanks to financial assistance from Logan County Animal Rescue, the adoption price for cats and kittens has been reduced from $85 to $50, now through August 30.

Health experts say that owning a cat can help lower risk of heart disease, stroke and cardiovascular disease, as well as helping improve the owners’ immune functions. Cats also help reduce anxiety, depression and stress in their owners.

The $50 adoption fee includes spay/neutering, FILV test, distemper shots, micro chips and rabies vaccine. These services could cost a pet owner $200-$350 if arrangements were made privately.

The offer is good for anyone with an approved adoption application. Animal viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Animal Control is located at 1515 N. Kickapoo St., Lincoln. Their telephone number is 735-3232.
