[July 31, 2014]  ROCHESTER– Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 4 Investigators today announced they have positively identified female skeletal remains that were found on July 19, in a residential area Rochester, Illinois.

The Rochester Police Department responded to a call of possible human remains located at 309 Park Street and immediately requested the assistance of the ISP to process the crime scene and to investigate the discovery of the human remains.

An autopsy was conducted by the Sangamon County Coroner, who confirmed that the remains matched the description of a 43 year old white female from Decatur, Illinois. Positive identification was made using forensic evidence. Next of kin has been notified but the victim’s name is not being released at this time by law enforcement pending the investigation.

“We worked tirelessly around the clock with our law enforcement partners to help with this identification,” said Captain Timothy Wooldridge. “The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office also worked diligently on this case in an effort to bring closure to the victim’s family,” he stressed.
