To the editor: I want to go on record as endorsing Mike Geriets
for Logan County sheriff.
Mike has been a valuable member of the Lincoln Police Department
for nearly 25 years, most of those years as a supervisor and
administrator.
Mike is also a dedicated father to his four children. I have seen
his dedication firsthand as I am the stepfather to his two youngest,
Jackson and Tori.
I have known and worked with Mike for over 16 years, and I am
confident in his ability to successfully run the Logan County
Sheriff's Department. Mike has the passion and experience that will
make him a sheriff Logan County can be proud of.

There is a serious need for change in the sheriff's department.
For the last 12 years, the working relationship between the
sheriff's department and other police agencies in Logan County has
been nonexistent, and to me, this is unacceptable. Sheriff Nichols
has gone on record stating, "Unfortunately personalities sometimes
enter into the equation with other agencies in the county." I want a
sheriff who has the capabilities to work and communicate with all
other agencies in the county without personality conflicts coming
into play.
Mike Geriets already has a good working relationship with these
agencies and should be our next Logan County sheriff.
Michael Fruge, co-worker
