Chloe Cox named Young Women in Public Affairs Award recipient

[March 18, 2014]  Chloe Cox, a senior at Lincoln Community High School, was named the recipient of the 2014 Zonta Club of Lincoln Young Women in Public Affairs Award.

The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman's (age 16-19) commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and their community and the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Ms. Cox was named a Zonta Club of Lincoln Young Women in Public Affairs recipient because or her high academic standing, leadership and volunteer activities in the community. She intends to pursue a degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and to become a dentist.

Her YWPA application will be forwarded to Zonta District 6 for consideration for further recognition.

Zonta Club of Lincoln funds the scholarship program with the help of Lincoln and Logan County through the sale of tickets to the club's annual turkey dinner.

Zonta International, with headquarters in Oak Brook, is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is one of many programs for women and girls sponsored by Zonta International.
