[March 27, 2014]  Below is a copy of the minutes from the Jan. 8 meeting of the Logan County Board Insurance and Legislative Committee.

Insurance and Legislative Meeting
Logan County Safety Complex
January 8, 2014

Present: Andy Anderson; Kevin Bateman; Pat O’Neill; Bill Martin; Chuck Ruben

Absent: Jan Schumacher

Guests: Pamela Meagher

Mr. Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm.

A motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Mr. Bateman, to approve the minutes from the December 11, 2013 meeting as printed. Motion passed.

Old Business

1) County physician: Discussion on this item was deferred until February.

2) Special event insurance (TULIP): Discussion on this item was deferred until February.

3) Cyber liability insurance: Discussion on this item was deferred until February.

4) AFLAC: The committee discussed the recent issues with AFLAC customer service. The committee agreed a letter should be sent to local AFLAC representatives (within a 35 mile radius) about the County’s interest in changing representatives. The committee also considered whether employees should be involved in this discussion.

New Business

1) None

Insurance Administrator Report: Nothing further to report.

Legislative:

1) HB924 – Amending the Prevailing Wage Act: A motion was made by Mr. Ruben, seconded by Mr. Bateman, to draft a letter opposing this bill for consideration by the full Board. Motion passed.

Appointments:

1) LO 13-14 11 – Rick Sheley to Zoning Board of Appeals: A motion was made by Mr. Bateman, seconded by Mr. Martin, to approve this appointment. Motion passed.

Recognitions:

1) None

Raffles:

1) LO 13-14 12 – Humane Society of Logan County: A motion was made by Mr. Bateman, seconded by Mr. Martin, to approve this raffle. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Mr. Bateman, seconded by Mr. Ruben, to approve the bills as presented for payment. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Mr. Martin, seconded by Mr. Bateman, to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting ended at 8:36 pm.
