Millikin to present 'Yankee Tavern' Thursday-Sunday

[May 01, 2014]  DECATUR — The Millikin University Department of Theatre and Dance will present "Yankee Tavern" by Steven Dietz, beginning Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. and continuing with performances Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. The play will be presented in Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, at 1099 W. Wood St. in Decatur, at the corner of Wood Street and Oakwood Avenue.

Six years after the fall of the twin towers, a young New York tavern owner and his fiancée find themselves embroiled in a web of chilling conspiracy theories surrounding the events leading up to that fateful day in September 2001. As they plan for their future and await the demolition of the once-thriving Yankee Tavern, a mysterious stranger reveals a secret that could tear their world apart.

Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at the box office at Kirkland Fine Arts Center, by phone at 217-424-6318 or online at kirklandfinearts.com. The box office is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and three hours prior to every Kirkland performance, or one hour prior to Albert Taylor Theatre performances. A $2.50 fee will be charged for credit card purchases. This is a per transaction fee, not per ticket, and applies to online and box office orders.
