[May 01, 2014]  SPRINGFIELD Memorial Medical Center's Hearing Center will offer free hearing screenings in May, which is "Better Speech and Hearing Month."

Hearing loss tends to be gradual and some may not immediately notice it, according to Lori Faber, a certified clinical audiologist at Memorial's Hearing Center.

"You may think others are mumbling or you're having difficulty understanding speech in noisy places," she said. "A hearing screening tells us if there is an actual hearing loss and if further diagnostic testing is needed."

Memorial's Hearing Center provides diagnostic hearing evaluations, information on types of hearing loss and treatments, and equipment such as hearing aids, assistive listening devices, batteries and hearing aid repair.
