[May 01, 2014]  ELSAH — The Lincoln Christian University baseball team traveled to Principia College on Tuesday for an evening game. This was a makeup game from very early in the season and was the final game of LCU's 2014 season.

LCU (1-16) started junior pitcher Matt Krause (Mount Zion/Mount Zion HS), who worked for nearly the whole game, getting relieved only at the final throws. In the first seven innings, Krause battled with the Principia batters, giving up three runs.

The Red Lions got their scoring started with a two-run homer from junior Ty Unger (Lincoln/LCHS) in the third inning and added two more in the fifth to give LCU the lead at 4-3. That lead evaporated under a landslide of runs in the bottom of the eighth, when Principia drove home 11. The wheels fell off defensively as the Red Lions sent three batters to first after being hit by pitches, and two runs scored on passed balls. The game was called when Principia scored its 14th run.

Lincoln Christian fell with a final score of 14-4 in the season finale.
