[May 14, 2014]  DECATUR - Bird watching is an exciting and healthy hobby and it's never too late to start. IRC’s Program Director, Jacques Nuzzo, will help adults along the first steps to birding and bird identification.

Participants will learn how to use and care for binoculars. They will learn how to use identification guides by practicing on setup scenarios with the IRC’s Wildlife Ambassadors – live birds of prey. Birders will then hike to the Sangamon River floodplain to try their hand at wild bird sightings.

The event will be held Sunday, May 18th, 2014 from 8am to 10am – rain or shine. Binoculars will be available if participants do not have their own. Participants should dress according to weather conditions and expect to be outside. Do not wear sandals or sleeveless shirts.

The fee for the program is $35.00 which includes bird identification guides and refreshments. Fees support the IRC Wildlife Hospital. E-mail to ircinfo@comcast.net or phone 217-963-6909 for more information and a registration form. The IRC Nature Center is located at 5685 W. Hill Road in Decatur.
