[May 22, 2014]  LINCOLN -  On Friday, Northwest School in Lincoln hosted a Book Premiere featuring the fabulous writings its students created this past school year. Elementary students from second through fifth grades participated in the writing project that took student's works and put them into book form.

The school began the book program last year, which encourages students to focus on their writing skills by putting their works into a keepsake hardback book.

Writings and art of the younger students were compiled and incorporated into a single class book, one for the second grade and one for the third grade classes. Fourth and fifth grade students each had an individual book of their own writings that they were presented to keep after the premiere.

The program was so popular with the students last year, that this year it was expanded to include a public presentation, during which some of the children were given the opportunity to read their submissions aloud.

The student's efforts were further encouraged, as the older students cheered for the younger ones while entering the gymnasium on a red carpet event to premiere their books before everyone.

Principal, Mr. Chris Allen, welcomed guests to the presentations, which included:

Mrs. Eigenbrod's class book, "Hip-hip horray! It's 100 day"

Mrs. Tripplett's first grade class book, "When I grow up," with readers Cort Pentecost and Anaiya Willis
