Village of Atlanta Memorial Day observance schedule

[May 24, 2014]  ATLANTA - Memorial Day will be observed in Atlanta on Monday, May 26th as our community pauses to remember and reflect upon the service and sacrifices made by veterans.

Below is the schedule of events for the day"

7 a.m. to 9 a.m. - The AUMC Men’s breakfast at the Atlanta firehouse from 7-9am.

8 a.m. - The Boy Scouts cake auction at the firehouse.  

10 a.m. - The Veteran’s Memorial Ceremony & Atlanta Band Concert on the lawn of the Atlanta Public Library.

11:45 a.m. – All children are invited to take a fire truck ride to the Atlanta Cemetery to honor veterans by placing flags on their graves. The fire truck will depart from the Atlanta Public Library at 11:45am.

11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - The VFW Auxiliary #1756 will serve lunch at the firehouse. 

1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. - A special program will held at the Atlanta Public Library to re-dedicate the Library following the extensive renovation work done there over the past several months.

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. - An Open House Reception at the Atlanta Public Library

In case of inclement weather, all Memorial Day activities will be held inside the Atlanta Firehouse, except the children’s trip to the Atlanta Cemetery, which will be canceled.
