[May 30, 2014]  LINCOLN - PORTA High School Senior, Drew Golden, has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Lincoln Christian University (LCU).  Drew traveled to Lincoln with his parents for the signing which was officiated by Baseball Assistant Coach David Upchurch.

Golden was a standout at PORTA High with a .353 batting average and a .400 on-base percentage in his final season.  As an outfielder, Drew displays impressive speed and the ability track difficult fly balls down, something  that LCU coaches were keen to recognize and excited about as he contributes as a Red Lion.

Upchurch officiated the signing and expressed his excitement for Golden’s commitment, “Drew is just a great kid.  He’s just the kind of guy we want, a great kid, who can play baseball and contribute to the campus in other ways as well.  We’re really glad to have him on board.”

LCU’s School of Undergraduate Studies is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and has been granted membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) beginning August 2014.
