[October 31, 2014]  LINCOLN - Carol Skorzak of Lincoln has been named the October Employee of the Month at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Skorzak has worked as a Registered Nurse at ALMH for over 29 years.

Skorzak began her career in healthcare as a nurse’s aide at age 15. By the time she graduated from high school she already had her LPN (licensed practical nurse) certification. Her many years of nursing experience includes work at a VA (Veterans Affairs) hospital in California and at the San Diego Naval Medical Center.

Skorzak describes her day-to-day work in the ALMH Acute Care unit as busy, rewarding, and challenging.

“My co-workers make the unit a special place to work. They care about our patients and assist in giving them the individual care they need. And by co-workers I mean not just the staff on our floor but all of the departments that help provide patient care,” said Skorzak.

Skorzak was nominated by co-worker Kalli Rigg who appreciates her willingness to help her co-workers when there is a need.

“Every shift she comes in with a great attitude and always has a smile on her face. She is very deserving,” said Rigg.

Skorzak is smiling for many reasons including the pride she takes in her work. She knows that ALMH is very important to the community.
